Q. My frenchie has a lump that's been tested a few weeks apart, by 2 different vets. The 1st test found Mast cells the 2nd did not. What should I do?
DR. CHRISTIE LONG, D.V.M., C.V.A.
A. I would also add that bulldogs (of any kind) are one of the top 3 breeds for mast cell tumors, so yes, I'd agree to get it off and have it biopsied to obtain a definitive diagnosis.
DAVID ELBEZE, DVM, MRCVS
A. First of all you can always ask to send the slide to a lab, there specialist histologists will be able to give a more definitive diagnose.
If there is a doubt, I wouldn't risk it. I would probably advice to go ahead with the surgery.
