Q. Is a dog snack made of a banana, carrots, coconut oil, psylium husks, and molasses scooped into approx a melon ball size ok for a daily treat or 3?
DR. CHRISTIE LONG, D.V.M., C.V.A.
A. I can't find any specific counter-indications to any of the ingredients in your treat mix (which sounds delicious, BTW) except potentially the molasses. And it's more about the sugar content than anything else. As long as you use just a little (unfortunately I can't find a safe "dose") to help the treat stick together you should be OK.

A. That is a huge treat, definitely too much! i wouldn't recommend giving more than the size of a tennis ball of this mixture, half a tennis ball would probably be even better.
A. You have a fairly good sized dog so those treats should be ok in moderation. Remember dogs can count, so rather then feeding him two or three great big treats, break them into smaller pieces and your dog will think you're amazing for giving him 10-12 treats (even though it's the same amount). If you're looking for low fat good treats, some dogs are crazy about veggies or bananas on their own and these are healthy to feed as a treat on their own
