Q. We have a boxer puppy (15 weeks old) and we're trying to figure out the best puppy food brand. Please advise.

Answered By

A. Without knowing your location its hard to comment on specific brands. Your want to feed him a high quality puppy food, preferably from a pet specialty store and not the grocery store. Check the ingredient label on the back. Things you want to see are a specific (lamb, chicken, fish and not generalized "meat") meat or meat meal, as the first 1-2 ingredients. You don't want anything that just says "meat meal" or meat by product. You also don't just want grains as the first few ingredients and definitely not corn. Better quality carbs are rice, potatoes or peas (instead of corn or wheat). When in doubt you can look up brands on www.dogfoodadvisor.com and they have an easy to follow rating system and breakdown of ingredients.
