Q. My Doberman is ten he was diagnosed with lymphoma his neck was really swollen and now a couple have busted open what can I do its the holidays vets

Answered By

A. I am unsure of what "busted open" means. Dogs with lymphoma tend to have greatly enlarged lymph nodes, but they do not surface and rupture. If he has been diagnosed with lymphoma he should be started on a CHOP protocol which is a series of chemotherapeutic drugs. I also combine this therapy with Chinese Veterinary Herbs and prednisone when needed. If you elect not to pursue therapy I recommend prednisone and herbs at the very least. The prednisone will have an anti tumor effect but only for a short period of time until the tumor adapts to it. Please let me know if you would like to consult in more detail. If your dog does have open sores I recommend cleaning with warm water and applying some coconut oil. Coconut oil is naturally anti bacterial and anti fungal.
