Q. Thought cat had uti. Took to vet. Got shot. Changed food. Peeing outside box & other weird places. Acting out, uti again?
DR. JENNIFER LADD, DVM
A. More commonly than UTIs in cats in urinary crystals and stones. In male cats this can cause an obstruction of the urethra. This is a condition which can be very dangerous. I would recommend having a urinalysis done , and if crystals are noted then a prescription diet can be started to dissolve them. If there are bladder stones than surgery is the answer. If you ever notice him unable to urinate please take him to the vet immediately.
