Q. I have a 6 yr old wired hair terrier she has blood in her urine can't produce full stream urine peeing frequently also is not fixed .
DR. JENNIFER LADD, DVM
A. I would encourage you to bring your dog in for a urinalysis ASAP. Although the likely cause is a bacterial infection, there are other possibilities as well. Your dog is at increased risk for a severe uterine infection, called a pyometra, and so she should be seen as soon as possible for this issue. A pyometra can be very dangerous and could be caused by a urinary tract infection that is left untreated.
DR. ANDREA M. BRODIE, DVM
A. Your dog likely is suffering from a severe urinary tract infection. This is very painful and needs to be seen by a veterinarian who will do a urinalysis. Depending on the findings he may also want to do radiographs, as dogs can often get bladder stones. In any case your dog will get pain medication and antibiotics. Please take her to a vet ASAP
