Q. Dog got into aspen wood fibers, her face is covered with sores, vet thought it was bee stings. Could this be from the wood fibers? Is on antibiotics
DR. LEIGH PUSATERI, DVM
A. I'm not exactly sure if wood fibers would cause sores all over your dogs face but anything is possible. It could possibly be an allergic reaction, bacterial or fungal infection, parasites/mites, or immune disease. If the antibioics don't help than you should have her re-examined by a vet for diagnostics to help determine the exact cause. Your vet may need to do cytology, cultures, skin scrapings, or a biopsy to help diagnose and treat the problem. Once an exact diagnosis is found, your vet can prescribe appropriate medications.
