DR. LEIGH PUSATERI, DVM
A. She needs to be examined by a veterinarian to determine the exact cause. Your veterinarian can run lab work and take x-rays, if needed, to diagnose and treat the problem. She could have an infection, kidney disease, liver disease, diabetes, thyroid problem, Addison's disease, cancer, etc. Once a diagnosis is made, your veterinarian can determine the best way to treat the problem.
DAVID ELBEZE, DVM, MRCVS
A. At this age this is unfortunately not a good sign. The most common reason of sudden seizures at this age is related to brain tumors. Brain tumors in unspayed females are even more prevalent.
there could be other explanations like liver failure for example, for this reason it is advise to do a blood test in order to rule out extra cranial (non brain related) conditions.
In order to diagnose a brain tumor, a CT scan needs to be performed, if she is insured it's worth considering.
