Q. Dosage of pill mutual 105 and pedialyte for 6 mointh puppy with parvo
DR. MASSIMO ORIOLES, DVM, MRCVS
A. These two medications are not veterinary products so they should not be used at all unless specifically prescribed by you veterinarian following a consultation.
-Doxycycline (active ingredient of Mutual 105) dosage is normally 10mg/kg orally every 24 hours. Mutual 105 is not a Veterinary medication.
-Unflavoured Pedialyte can be used to rebalance electrolytes and fluid losses but there is not specific dosage (could be anything from anything in between 5 to 15 mlx per pound of body weight). Overdosage can be dangerous, especially in puppies.
if you Dog is affected by Parvovirus I would strongly recommend to take him/her to you Veterinarian as soon as possible. You Vet will be able to diagnose and treat with supportive treatment most appropriately. Parvovirus infection is a dangerous and life threatening condition.
