Q. Why is my dog constantly licking his back paws?
DR. MASSIMO ORIOLES, DVM, MRCVS
A. That may be due to different causes. Allergies such as food allergies, contact allergies and atopy, stress related - obsessive compulsive behaviour-, bacterial and fungal paw infections, flea related dermatitis or a combination of them. A good flea treatment, more activity in terms of exercise could be good initial options. I would recommend to take him to your veterinarian if the signs persist for a check up and appropriate treatment. He may need specific diets and allergic tests.
