Q. My six week old Beagle puppy doesn't poop more than 2 times per day and is very lathargic. He has all shots and shakes his head a lot. What can I do?
DR. MASSIMO ORIOLES, DVM, MRCVS
A. I would be concern about these signs and I would recommend to take him to your veterinarian. Severe lethargy is the major concern in his case, but is a very aspecific sign so it could be caused by a variety of diseases. Your veterinarian will be able to give you more information by a physical examination.

A. The low amounts of stools might be because he doesn't eat as much as he did before, and that may be because of something else that is bothering him.
If he shakes his head a lot he probably has an ear infection, these can cause severe discomfort and pain, sometimes eve nausea.
He needs to be seen by a Vet, if it's an ear problem it's easy to treat.
A. He's pretty young so he hadn't had all his shots yet, likely just 1 set which does not guarantee full immunity. Lethargy is a serious symptom and head shaking as well. Distemper dogs often have uncontrollable shakes or twitches. I would have him looked at right away.
