Q. My cats stomach is big and I'm giving her new prescribed. But its not going down why??
DAVID ELBEZE, DVM, MRCVS
A. If she just started a treatment to reduce stomach bloating it might take several days to start taking effect. Bear in mind bloated stomach is usually caused by intolerance to food, if the food has not been changed you should consult your vet about this. It doesn't always have to be a medical food, it can be a high quality over the counter food with different ingredients than the food she is on at the moment. Appearance of bloated stomach can also be something else, like fluids in the abdominal cavity, in this case an ultrasound can shed some light on this problem.

A. The medications that was prescribed ( whatever it was) could take time to work. The efficacy of the treatment unfortunately depends to many factors such as what is the underlying cause and which medication you are giving and what therapeutic regime you are following. I would need more specific informations to be able to give you more specific answers.
