Q. What is the treatment of pancreas in dogs
DAVID ELBEZE, DVM, MRCVS
A. If you are referring to pancreatitis the treatment is usually supportive (anti acids, anti emetics, antibiotics) but most importantly medical food (for example Royal Canin gastrointestinal low fat).

A. More information would be required as to the nature of the disease affecting the pancreas. Pancreatitis or inflammation can be treated with supportive therapy (fluids, often intravenous plus pain relief) and anti-vomiting medication until stable and then managed long term by a very low fat diet. Pancreatic insufficiency is treated with diet modification and pancreatic enzyme supplementation. Other conditions such as cysts and tumors require specific, individual treatment
