Q. My cat went missing and came back with a (possibly) broken paw. He limps around and avoids putting any weight on it. What should I do to help him heal
DAVID ELBEZE, DVM, MRCVS
A. If you suspect he might have a fracture, you should take him to the vet in order to get it checked professionally. If it's fractured but the fracture is simple, he might be able to heal with a special bandage.
If it's not fractured, it night either be a soft tissue trauma, or an abscess. If it's a trauma it will get better with rest and pain killers (metacam), if it's an abscess it will need to be treated with antibiotics.
