Q. My dog keeps throwing up his food and has thick white/clear saliva. His appetite and thirst are fine. The food coming back up is undigested.
DAVID ELBEZE, DVM, MRCVS
A. He might have eaten something spoiled that is causing this, although throwing up undigested food could be a sign of regurgitation which is usually a disease of the esophagus.
Withhold food for 12 hours then offer him boiled boneless chicken and rice every 6 hours in small portions. If he is eating and not vomiting, continue with this diet for 2 days.
After 2 days, you can put him back gradually on his normal food.
If he continues vomiting or is not eating, take him to the vet to get treatment.
