DAVID ELBEZE, DVM, MRCVS
A. Walking on hocks of the back legs is a common symptom of diabetes, it is due to nerve damage caused by the high levels of glucose in the blood. it should get better once the treatment is ongoing and the diabetes under control.
A. Diabetes may cause lameness or pain in the limbs. Recheck with your vet to rule out other causes such as injury or orthopedic conditions. Restrict activity to just leash walks to eliminate and use a large towel under her abdomen to provide support if necessary.
