Q. I have a female dog who pees in her sleep and ramdomly throughout the day. It happens constantly. What should I do?
DAVID ELBEZE, DVM, MRCVS
A. This is probably a condition called urinary incontinence, it's quiet common in spayed female dogs. you will need to bring her to the vet for a urine test in order to rule out an infection or a renal condition, if the test is clear - the vet will start her on a medication for urinary incontinence, it's usually very effective and solves the problem.
DR. ANDREA M. BRODIE, DVM
A. There are a few reasons why this happens: 1) she may have a urinary tract infection. Your vet can check her urine for infection. 2) she is very very relaxed in her sleep and just lets go. 4) she suffers from hormone-dependent urinary incontinece which can be a side effect of spaying. There are mediations for this which can help her hold her urine.
You need to take her to a vet for an exam.
