DESTINI R. HOLLOWAY, DVM
A. Because of his age and no history of allergies that cause this nasal sound you are hearing, I would say yes this is something you want to get looked into by a vet. At the very least an exam is warranted so the vet can listen to your cats lungs and hopefully hear the sounds you are hearing. We just want to make sure your cat is stable and if there is anything we can do about to do it early while kitty is still in otherwise good health.
Plus if you have my had bloodwork done for your kitty in over a year, it is highly recommended in cats over 7 years of age. Lots of diseases of caught early in cats can be treated for and managed.
