Q. My cat fell over and started meowing weird, he was all stiff and drooling. I pet him for awhile and he finally came out of it and just panted.

A. Sounds like your kitty just had a seizure. This is typical seizure activity of falling over, tonic (stiff) movement or clonic (jerking) movement. Then once the seizure is over the pet will be disoriented and in an excited state. Poor cat. There is nothing you can do for seizures at home, so I recommend taking him for a complete exam and bloodwork to look for underlying causes of seizures and to have a baseline in case your pet needs anti-seizure medication.
It would be advisable to record the seizure event if another one happens. It sounds like you are doing nothing to help your pet, however this provides the vet with a lot of information on how to classify the seizure and treat it. If seizure activity last for more than 2-3 minutes or if more than 1 seizure occurs a month, anti-seizure is recommended to help control them. I hope your kitty fares well and you find a vet that can help you manage this properly.
