Q. My indoor cat hurt leg can't afford vet

Answered By
DESTINI R. HOLLOWAY, DVM

A. That is unfortunate. There is no sound advice that can be given for the description of just a hurt leg. There are many kinds of injuries that can occur with the limbs and more information is needed to make an appropriate recommendation. Plus there are absolutely no safe over the counter pain meds for cats, as all of them are quick toxic and can cause severe illness and even death.
I highly recommend that you do a Yelp search for low cost clinics in your area that may be able to do an exam and pain meds at a cheaper rate until you can gather funds for appropriate diagnostics and further care if needed.
You can also seek financial assistance through www.CareCredit.com for further help.
