Q. Can I use the same toothbrush for my 2 dogs and cat?
DESTINI R. HOLLOWAY, DVM
A. It isn't advised to share tooth brushes between pets because of the transfer of oral bacteria. I would recommend having 3 separate toothbrushes for all pets, especially the cat, they generally require much smaller toothbrushes than dogs and you can purchase this from your local pet store or get from your vet.
But also keep in mind that proper cleansing of the toothbrushes should be done at least weekly to help remove debris and bacteria from building up on the brushes. And they should be replaced once bristles dull down, typically around 3-6 months depending on how frequently you use them.
