Q. Pom/chi started to run around fast upset and snappy at our other dogs. He is now under the bed flipping around and hitting his head on floor

Answered By

A. This is almost certainly a seizure episode which he was aware of coming on him. There are numerous causes from toxic substances, liver and kidney disease, moldy food raided from garbage and epilepsy and some dogs will have only one seizure in their lifetime. If it lasted longer than 5minutes he should be treated urgently, otherwise monitor him closely and make an appointment with your regular vet. He may need blood work to rule our internal causes and may need medication to prevent future fits

A. This is almost certainly a seizure episode which he was aware of coming on. If it lasted longer than 6minutes he should be treated urgently. He should be checked as soon as possible and may need bloods to rule out underlying medical causes. In most dogs, seizures are treatable and well managed with medication. Look around also to make sure he could not have contacted any toxic substances or raided any mouldy food as these can bring on seizures
