Q. Cat on medication for HCM has been losing weight. Recently started eating very little and has been losing weight very fast.

Answered By
DR. ANDREA M. BRODIE, DVM

A. You will need to have her reassessed. There is a possibility that her medication needs to be adjusted. There is also a chance that she may suffer from hyperthyroidism which can aggravate HCM and weight loss. Please take her to the veterinarian ASAP.

A. This is a sign that the medications are not working well enough. i would advise making an appointment with your vet or with a cardiology specialist in order to adjust the treatment and maybe add an additional medication if needed.
