Q. I brought a outside cat in and want to make him a house cat. How do I get him to use the litter box.
DR. ANDREA M. BRODIE, DVM
A. First of all you need to put the litter box in a quiet place where he cannot be disturbed. Use clumping cat litter without perfume. Kitties like to scratch a hole into sand-like substrate to do their business in, and then like to cover it, so the litter will be inviting anyway. You can gently lift him up and put him in the box, take a front leg and make a digging motion with it. Most cats will catch on quickly.
