Q. My pup is about 1 1/2. She's 3/4 pomeranian and 1/4 dachshund . She's been puking up white foamy stuff and she now has diarrhea. Does she need a vet?
A. If the symptoms have been going on repeatedly, then yes, the safest thing to do is to get her seen right away, especially if she is feeling lethargic or has no appetite. If she got into something and you know what it was, take the packaging or remnants with you to the vet so they know exactly what they're dealing with.
If she seems to be feeling fine otherwise, you can try withholding food for 24 hours and see if fasting helps her GI tract calm down and recover. Let her have water, but no food of any kind for 24 hours. After 24 hours, give her a tiny amount (a small spoonful) of plain boiled rice and chicken breast, bot cooked with no salt or seasonings of any kind. If that goes well, give her another small amount after 30 minutes. Keep doing this until she has had a normal meal amount. If the diarrhea or vomiting continues or restarts, or if she becomes lethargic or refuses food, get her seen by your vet as soon as possible.
