A. If he's an older dog, he could have some arthritis that hurts when he moves again after a period of inactivity. There are some orthopedic problems small dogs get, such as luxating patellas, where the kneecap slides out of joint. This condition can get progressively worse over time. Regardless of cause, he should be seen by your vet as soon as possible for an exam and possibly x-rays. If he does have arthrotos, there are supplements and treatments tht can gretly improve his mobility and pain levels. Some orthopedic conditions can be managed, some require suregery to correct the underlying problem. Your vet will be able to offer you a diagnosis and treatment plan after the diagnostics are done.
