Q. Female spayed pomp, just become very swollen in abdomen area last day or 2 thrown up a few times slimy mucus. Breathing is labored at times. HELP?
A. Any difficulty breathing should be treated as an emergency. She may have a heart condition that is causing fluid to accumulate in her belly, making it harder to breathe. Whatever the cause, she needs to be seen by a vet right away. They will do an exam, labwork, probably x-rays. Based on these findings, they will be better able to advise you on her condition and get her started o treatment as soon as possible.
