Q. My kitten have very loose stole and it been foe a couple off weeks. Is this normal
A. Diarrhea is never normal. Being a kitten, the likely cause may be intestinal parasites but you will need to submit a stool sample to your vet for a definitive diagnosis. Your vet can prescribe or administer the appropriate dewormer if indicated. Deworming is typically repeated several times for kittens. In the meantime, withhold food for 12-24 hours. Allow small amounts of water or unflavored PediaLyte. Resume feeding a bland diet (1:1 ratio of plain boiled boneless chicken and plain white rice). Feed in small, frequent amounts waiting at least one hour between feedings. Continue feeding until the stool is normal. Transition slowly to the regular diet. If the diarrhea doesn’t stop after this and the deworming, recheck with your veterinarian.
