Q. My dog keeps throwing up. I started new Hip and Joint chews & daily vitamins. Would those b the problem. He has thrown up b4 from eating to fast
A. Try offering the vitamins and supplements after she eats to avoid stomach upset. Split the joint chews and vitamins between day and night feedings. Elevate the bowl and place large rocks or a length of large link chain in the bowl. This will slow down her eating. There are also bowls that you can purchase which will slow down her eating. Search for "slow feed bowls" at www.pet360.com. If she still vomits, discontinue the joint chews then the vitamins to try to determine if one or the other is causing the vomiting.
If the vomiting persists, discontinue both the chews and vitamins and withhold food for 12-24 hours. Allow small amounts of water or unflavored PediaLyte. Resume feeding a bland diet (1:1 ratio of plain boiled boneless chicken and plain white rice). Feed in small, frequent amounts waiting at least one hour between feedings. If the vomiting stops, transition slowly to the regular diet. If not, see your veterinarian.
