Q. My 15 year old dog is having trouble holding in her urine but only while I am at work. I am out of the house for over nine hours what can I do
A. Have her seen by your vet to rule out medical causes. To rule out UTI, have your vet collect a sterile urine sample for urinalysis and culture. Blood work may be able to diagnose kidney disease or diabetes. Incontinence should also be ruled out. Consider asking a friend or family member to walk her mid day or hire a dog walker to visit and let her out.

A. Urine incontinence is common in older female dogs. The good news is that there is a very effective treatment for this condition which is called "propalin".
Take her to your vet and he will probably prescribe you this medication.
