Q. We came home and are fat tailed gecko was on his back barely alive he is very skinny and looks unhealthy has been skinny and unhealthy, can we help?
A. Confirm proper environmental conditions (temp, humidity, lighting). Low temps can affect activity and appetite. Soak him in a warm bath for 10-15 minutes. Use a 50/50 dilution of water and unflavored PediaLyte. Offer appropriately sized, gut loaded crickets or mealworms. Dust them daily with a calcium supplement and weekly with a vitamin supplement. If he doesn't improve, see an experienced herp vet to rule out infection, injury, intestinal parasites, GI impaction or other conditions.
