a 70lb,23" tall, ACD, w/a history of ch. Pancreatitis
A. Withhold food for 12-24 hours. Allow small amounts of water or unflavored PediaLyte. Resume feeding a bland diet (1:1 ratio of plain boiled boneless chicken and plain white rice). Feed in small, frequent amounts waiting at least one hour between feedings. Serve warm or mix in 2 teaspoons of baby food to stimulate the appetite. Continue feeding a bland diet until the gut sounds and gas resolve and the appetite is normal. Transition slowly to the regular diet. If the sounds/gas don’t stop or the appetite does not return, see your veterinarian. Monitor for GI upset, lethargy or abdominal pain.
