Q. My cat is 16 and has been losing weight for months. He vomits up the dry food ( whole) . Gave him Fancy feast with gravy. He just licks up the gravy.
A. Weight loss is always a worrying sign, Cats tend to lose weight as a natural ageing process but rapid weight loss and vomiting can be due to, for example, kidney or liver failure, over-active thyroid gland or other hormonal problems or even due to growing tumor. You should take your cat to your vets for examination and possibly a blood test. It would be very helpful if you manage to collect a urine sample to take to your vets for analysis.
