Q. How dangerous is anesthesia in a dog who needs dental work? He has chronic liver disease with extremely high liver stats
A. Patients with liver disease are at increased risk of anesthesia complications. It is to some point unpredictable how your dog will metabolize drugs used for anesthesia. It is always a good idea to check coagulation profile in dogs with liver disease before surgical or dental procedures when bleeding can be significant. In my opinion you discuss in length with your vet if dental procedure must be done. If it is not absolutely necessary I probably wouldn't go for it.
