Q. My 19 year old cat, Junior, is down to one tooth. What supplements do you suggest I give him to make sure he is getting all the nutrients he needs ?
JESSICA L DESROSIERS
A. If Junior is able to still eat cat food, a soft or moist diet may be enough to provide him with a balanced meal. Making sure to feed a senior specific cat food can also be sure to provide the right nutrients for what his body needs. If you are concerned about him getting enough nutrition, gravies are a great way to add calories, and there are many soft-chew and pill forms of vitamins formulated for senior cats available. A senior appointment with your local vet can also help look for any holes in his nutrition as well as recommend any supplements that may be beneficial.
