Q. My cat has bacterial parasites according to vet. Meds make her sick, is there a NATURAL remedy?
JESSICA L DESROSIERS
A. If your cat has a bacterial infection, antibiotics are usually the way to go, however they can sometimes cause vomiting or diarrhea. Adding in a natural supplement such as plain yogurt to meals may help re-seed the gut with good bacteria and stop vomiting and diarrhea in minor cases. Your vet may also be able to give you a different medication to try. Supplements such as garlic and echinacea may also provide a natural antibiotic and immune boost to help the body combat minor infections. For actual parasites such as worms, food-grade diatomaceous earth can be given to kill the internal parasites. Asking your vet for the right amount to give depending on your cat's size is best.
