Q. Hair missing underneath cats forelegs. No scratching, pulling hair, etc.
JESSICA L DESROSIERS
A. Hair loss can be caused by a wide range of things including metabolic changes (such as thyroid problems), injury to the leg (wounds and scratches) or even external parasites, bacteria or fungal infections. Checking for other signs of problems such as redness, strange growths, or even changes in appetite and activity level may help clue you in better as to what the cause can be. If the hair loss continues, or you see any additional signs of illness such as those listed above, then scheduling a veterinary check up is best.
