Q. My cat has a bite going strait through his ear and many other cuts on his ears and head.is it a good idea to boil water pour salt in and let it cool

A. It is best to just clean the wound with a warm wet washcloth and clean gauze rather than placing anything in or on the ear. Do not use any over the counter medications or salves on the ear as they can be toxic to pets unless directly instructed by your veterinarian. Boiling water will scald your cat and cause further injury so DO NOT place it on the wound. As many cat bites and wounds get infected easily, it is best to contact your veterinarian as soon as possible so that they can disinfect the wound and provide antibiotics as needed to prevent an infection from taking hold while it heals.
