Q. Pit mix dog 12.5 yr old w/enlarged spleen, liver and gallbladder is it safe to continue with annual injections
JESSICA L DESROSIERS
A. Annual vaccinations may not be recommended depending on the severity of your dog's symptoms. It is best to check with the vet that is treating your dog currently to see what the recommendation is. Since your dog is older, it may be better to instead perform a titer test, which is a blood test that measures the amount of antibodies from previous vaccines still left in the blood. If the titer is still high enough, you may be able to skip annual vaccination and still have enough immunity for your dog to be protected.
