Q. I have a great Pyrenees with a tumor in his right eye. He is to old for surgery. What can I put on it to draw out the infection.

A. If a secondary infection has formed in addition to a tumor on the eye it is best to seek veterinary care. Your vet may be able to provide you with a medicated ointment or oral antibiotic that can take care of the infection, or may be able to provide you with other treatments to make your dog more comfortable. Using an Elizabethan (cone) collar is also a good idea to prevent your dog from pawing or scratching at the affected area which could make things worse. If the eye is weeping or oozing, a clean washcloth can be used to remove the excess debris to make the eye feel more comfortable.
