Q. Will tea tree shampoo or coconut oil aid in eliminating some of the odor of my pet who has Canine Seborrhea?
JESSICA L DESROSIERS
A. Tea tree oil may help if there is an underlying fungal portion to the skin issues, and coconut oil can be safely used to treat chronic dry skin. Be sure to not let your dog lick the area too much after application as it may cause some minor digestive upset if too much is ingested. If the skin problems continue, your vet can recommend a stronger medicated shampoo to help with the underlying skin issue and chronic odor.
