Q. Why is adult neutered orange gabby boy's coat (especially face and ears) is dark gray-sort
of like a face mask. His ears and front legs and paws also.
JESSICA L DESROSIERS
A. If the color has changed rapidly and suddenly, it may indicate a metabolic or skin issue causing skin and hair color changes. If the hair has gradually grayed over time, it could just be aging related. Like humans, cats (and dogs) will start to go gray as they reach their senior years. If you are concerned, or see other signs of illness in addition to the hair change, then scheduling a vet visit is best.
