Q. My cat has ckd he is 14yr 8 months & I have noticed that he has getting weak
back legs.can I give him potassium ? & do I need to get from my vets
A. Potassium is a supplement quite dangerous because can cause a heart arrhythmia. Be sure that your cat is eating a proper renal diet and won't need any supplement. When your cat is diagnosed of CKD a part from any treatment needs to go to vets for a regular blood test, I normally advise every 3-6 months, that analysis will show if your cat needs potassium or any other supplement and if all same maybe is starting to develop arthritis and that's why is getting weak from the back legs...is really common in old cats but because they are normally hiding pain signs is difficult for the owner to detect it.
