Q. I have a Terrier mix breed dog who's having problems with itching. We have done all the special baths with no relief. What dog food do you recommend.

A. Itchiness in dogs shows that the skin is reacting to something, mainly are allergies that can vary from flea bite allergy to food allergy. If your dog is Atopic an especial diet should help as well as baths and antibiotics/flea treatment. For those dog I use two different types of diet, one kind is based on new sources of protein and carbohydrates like Hills d/d and the other ones are those that includes hydrolyzed protein such as Hills z/d ultra allergen. Both are good and depending on what's your dog problem will be better to use one or the other. Ask your vet. If the itchiness is quite important would need as well meds to stop it.
