Q. We have a mini dachshund & would like to start him on a meat based diet. Can someone suggest a good, affordable food? He is 13 weeks old. Thank you

A. Have you heard of Ziwipeak. Google it. It's this fantastic air-dried raw-food diet that is balanced for you so you don't have to worry balancing a strictly raw meat diet all by yourself (which can be challenging for beginners). I feed my Dachshund mix Ziwipeak and she does incredibly well on it. I've never her so healthy before in my life. It is an incredible food.

It is rather expensive, however, considering you feed less of this food than of the average kibble diet, and considering your pup is a mini Dachshund, you most likely won't be spending too much feeding him.

A. There are many raw options that come in dehydrated, freeze dried or even frozen raw. Ziwipeak is a great brand, as is Sojo's. The Only Natural Pet Brand Easy Raw is complete, balanced and as the name implies EASY! The change in my dog after less than 2 weeks on it was incredible. You can see and compare several different brands at many price points on our website, and feel free to access our Holistic Healthcare Library for articles and information to help you make this transition as it can be intimidating. http://www.onlynaturalpet.com/search/dogs/food/dehydrated
